Day 49: Trailer envy
Sep 18th, 2005 by Nuts On Bents
The day started much like any other… pack up camp, check route while having breakfast and start climbing up another flipping hill. Then it subsided into pure, unadulterated heaving green envy, the type that wears tattered clothes and runs around the countryside wreaking havoc! It wasn’t really that bad, but it was close…
We were casually cycling along up a hill minding our own business when another couple came sailing down the hill arms waving on a tandem. They were Maud and Matthieu from Paris, France and they were on the final homestretch of cycling around the world. In fact it was exactly one year to the day ago that they had started! We examined (in minute detail) their fibre glass trailer and quickly wiped off our saliva from it. Very impressed it left the question of why hadn’t we got one ourselves!!!
It was a shame they were going the other direction as it would have been great to spend some time with them and talk about some of the route they took as we would be taking the same ourselves in the near future. Well done both of you!
